A Study on the Alcohol Related Crime

Abstract
his study was designed to analyze the relation among personality, problem drinking and alcohol related criminal acts.
The subjects in this study were selected from among criminals (male, N=885) in the detention house of Uijeongbu Public Prosecutors Office.
AUDIT(Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) was used to measure the proportions of problem drinking.
The results are as follows:
1.Among prisoners 88.6% responded as current drinkers
2.Drinkers with more than 8 point from AUDIT(Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) are 62.7% of the prisoners. And at 12 point 51.1% of prisoners are problem drinkers. Generally the whole rate of problem drinking is higher than general people and college students.
3.Drinking has an effect on criminal patterns, especially violence and adultery have something close to do with drinking.
4.Criminal who has the history of problem drinking family are more close with problem drinking, violence and adultery crime than criminals who has not.
5.Those who have problem drinking are statistically very significant in the tendency of violence and adultery crime.
In conclusion, the more they have this, the stronger they have the tendency of problem drinking. That is to say, the higher the degree of problem drinking is, the closer they will be connected with crimes.
